Featuring many Chicago-based writers and artists, P2S publishes new and avant garde work from anywhere. Is it a magazine about spit? Maybe. Spit is multi-use and up for interpretation. The magazine started as an homage to the fringe exuberance of gay erotica magazines, many of which included lifestyle articles, literature, and visual art in the midst of pornography. P2S is a place for experimentation and cultivation of micromovements between communities of writers and artists.
The front and back cover of Places To Spit Issue 1
While the title of the publication is meant to provoke themes of the erotic, Places to Spit imagines an inverted environment where the underground is the dominant system.
Places To Spit Issue 2
The second issue continues to interpret the many histories and futures of queerness. Issue 2 includes a section of backpage collage, created by me from scans of vintage magazines collected over many years, as a reference to the embryonic system of commodifying the romantic encounter.
Digital collages produced for the magazine from classified ads and erotic spreads
